GLORIA GAYNOR, SPECIAL GUEST OF MUSICARIVAFETIVAL

An unforgettable night in Riva last December

Last December, Riva del Garda experienced a great musical event performed by celebrated Gloria Gaynor, the queen of disco-music. The concert was organized by musicaRivafestival, whose Head Artistic Director, Mrs. Mietta Sighele, has been recently opening to very different artistic proposals. Nevertheless, the concert of Gloria Gaynor does not differ a lot from the music genre musicaRivafestival has been used to propose for 20 years, gathering in Riva hundreds of young musicians from all over the world. The queen of disco-music is considered a real classic in the history of music, like the greatest musicians of the past. Today Gloria Gaynor keeps on being very popular. Last March at the “World Music Awards” in Montecarlo, she received the wished “Legend” Prize directly from Prince Albert, a big fan of her. Moreover, it is important to remember that a lot of her successes were used as soundtrack of several movies. She performed live in more than 80 Countries in front of very important people, like President Clinton, Princess Grace and Pope John Paul II. French national football team considered Mrs Gaynor their representative for the power of her music. Mrs. Gaynor has a rare and precious ability to involve her audience and to convey her deep spirit. Here the great wait for the concert in Riva is well explained. With it, musicaRivafestival wanted to pay homage to all citizens and to the numerous fans of the artist. The concert will be possible thanks to the support of Garda Cartiere, Riva del Garda Town Council and the Palacongressi. Gloria Gaynor is born in New Jersey (USA) in 1947 and she is unquestionably considered the queen of disco-music both by her fans and media. She began her career as a dark singer and entertainer in the pubs of Eastern Coast, where she learnt how to manage with the audience and the stage. She was discovered by Mr. Jay Elli, who became her manager -and still is – even though, then, she was performing in a nightclub with a song produced by Johnny Nash in 1965 and which let her express all her Afro-American singer’s features. Her success came in 1979, when the famous song titled “I will survive” gained the first position both in English and American classifications. This song represented a sort of hymn and with its dynamic rhythm but touching sound given by the archs and its genial arrangement it will change literary the discography market of that moment.
